“But now I feel lucky for my 21st Century education. I get to simply download the knowledge of who came before me, allowing me to stand on their shoulders and ponder new problems they never would’ve had access to.” -Luigi Mangione
such a nuanced and honest read! the system is attacking everyone and its flaws are becoming undeniable even to the most privileged groups, which is why luigi’s story is so compelling
The problem with insurance is that their product is money, and their incentive is to maximize profits. This means that to become more profitable, they can a) raise premiums, b) raise deductibles, and c) deny more claims.
“The evidence is all around us that we are all vulnerable to the particular cruelties of this country even if you are privileged enough to be out of the immediate line of fire.“
Been feeling this deeply lately. Thank you for putting it into words and sharing.
> Tech companies laid off more than 130,000 workers this year and those jobs don’t seem to be coming back
What the hell are you talking about? The entire argument goes to shit when you say stuff like this, it makes no goddamn sense. A Penn CS grad is 100% more employable than someone like me.
Some elite Penn grad shooting a University of Iowa accountant is definitely an opening volley of a class war - one of the educated elites against the rest of us that can't hang out at the Penn Club of NYC. The only sad thing is the fact that a man left his wife widowed and kids without a dad.
this is first all-encompassing Take on the situation that I agree with. really enjoyed reading this :)
Thank you!!

More than someone like you or me, yes, but less than they were a few years ago
